Areas of Treatment

My passion is to work with people who are going through life transitions, adjusting to school, navigating relationships and careers, and trying to make sense of their lives to build a better future.  I specialize in the following areas:

Getting started

The decision to seek treatment can be challenging, but I imagine there is something that is unsettling in your life right now prompting you to take this step.  In our 90-minute evaluation session and subsequent meetings, we will work together to better understand what got you here and where you want to go.  With you as the expert on your life, I will be there to guide you in developing an individualized treatment plan.

Treatment Philosophy

Life can feel hard and overwhelming.  My goal is to help you address your struggles that are getting in the way of living your life as fully as possible.

Through years of study, intensive supervision, research review, and my own observations in clinical practice, I have developed a unique treatment philosophy that integrates mind and body.  I work with individuals to develop deep and impactful insights, embrace mindfulness and self-compassion, explore relational patterns, and identify concrete behavioral changes.

While intensive psychotherapy is often the core of my work, I am a board-certified psychiatrist who is informed by my medical training.  There are times that medication can be helpful in addressing symptoms during the course of treatment including sleep issues, inattention, depression and anxiety.  I think of medication as a tool, not a necessary component of every treatment.  The decision to take medication is a personal one.  If medication is something we consider together, we will discuss the risks and benefits of pharmacologic treatment so you can make an informed decision.

While working with you, I integrate multiple evidence-based treatment modalities, including:

What to expect

At the end of the day, my goal is to partner with you to work through the issues you feel are holding you back in your life so you can thrive.

While it is difficult to predict the outcome of treatment, my patients often report that a deeper understanding -- of their personal histories, relationship patterns, and habits of mind -- empowers them with a profound sense of freedom to make informed choices about how they want to move forward in life.  As a result, they often report feeling greater self-acceptance, improvements in mood and anxiety, and strengthened relationships as an outgrowth of our work together.
